Physiotherapy is an integral part of the medical sciences field. It involves applying physical activity and other physical factors to positively affect the human musculoskeletal system. It aims at eliminating the effects or alleviating disease processes and their consequences, preventing them and restoring mobility. Physiotherapists treat neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory system dysfunctions. The most common reasons for consulting a physiotherapist are:
craniocerebral or multi-organ trauma;
broken bone or damaged joint;
osteoporosis or degenerative joint changes;
chronic diseases such as MS, ALS, cerebral palsy, asthma;
pain in the spinal column (mostly in the lumbar or cervical region) or peripheral joints;
stroke;
spinal cord injury.
