Frequently asked questions
- When is it worth scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist?
- It’s worth seeing a psychiatrist if you are experiencing persistent low mood, anxiety, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, or sudden changes in behavior. An appointment is also recommended when everyday functioning becomes difficult due to emotional problems. You don’t need to wait for a crisis—the sooner, the better.
- What does the first appointment with a psychiatrist at ProfessMed look like?
- The first psychiatric appointment is a conversation lasting approximately 50–60 minutes. The psychiatrist conducts a detailed interview about your symptoms, medical history, previous treatment, and life circumstances. Based on this, they make an initial diagnosis and propose a treatment plan—pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, or a combination of both.
- Do I need a referral to see a psychiatrist at ProfessMed?
- No. ProfessMed is a private clinic and does not require a referral for a psychiatric consultation. You can book an appointment directly through ZnanyLekarz or by phone at +48 58 380 24 25.
- Psychiatrist vs. psychologist — what’s the difference?
- A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can make diagnoses, prescribe medication, and issue sick leave certificates. A psychologist is not a medical doctor and does not prescribe medication, but provides psychological assessment and psychotherapy. At ProfessMed, both psychiatrists and psychotherapists are available, and these two forms of care can complement each other.
- Is a visit to a psychiatrist confidential?
- Yes. A visit to a psychiatrist is protected by medical confidentiality, just like an appointment with any other specialist. Information about psychiatric treatment is not shared with employers, insurers, or any other parties without the patient’s explicit consent.
- How much does a psychiatric consultation cost at ProfessMed?
- A psychiatric consultation at ProfessMed costs 350 zł for the initial visit or 250 zł for a follow-up visit. The current price list is available on the clinic’s website under the Price List tab.
