Preparing for your first visit to ProfessMed.
What should you bring to your appointment?
- Test results — Laboratory and imaging test results (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound), as well as hospital discharge summaries—anything related to your current health concern.
- Medication list — The names, dosages, and frequency of all medications you take, including supplements and over-the-counter products.
- Medical records — Records from previous specialist consultations, doctors’ opinions, and hospital discharge summaries.
If you do not have any test results or medical records, that is absolutely fine. The doctor will conduct the consultation based on the interview and examination.
What does the first consultation involve?
The course of the consultation depends on the specialty, but it always begins with a conversation about your symptoms, medical history, and any treatment you have received so far.
- Medical History and Documentation — The doctor reviews your symptoms, medical records, and test results. That is why it is worth bringing them with you—it saves time and allows for a more precise assessment.
- Examination and Clinical Assessment — The specialist performs a physical examination tailored to their field of expertise. Based on the findings, they assess the issue and, if necessary, order additional tests.
- Further Treatment Plan — At the end of the appointment, the doctor discusses the initial diagnosis and proposes a treatment plan or further diagnostic evaluation. The appointment lasts as long as the patient’s condition requires.
